How to get more reach on a Facebook Page: 9 practical fixes for small businesses

If your Facebook Page has a few hundred followers but your posts reach only a handful of them, you are not alone. Facebook decides what each person sees, and a Page post is never shown to every follower. Nobody outside Facebook can promise a number, but you can change the things that are in your control.

1. Post things people react to, not just announcements

Posts that get comments, shares and saves tend to be shown to more people than posts that get ignored. A price list on its own rarely starts a conversation. A question, a before-and-after photo or a useful tip often does.

2. Ask a question people can answer in one line

"Which colour would you pick?" or "What do you want to see us make next?" is easy to answer. Reply to every comment, because replies keep the conversation going and show real people are behind the Page.

3. Use real photos and short video

Clear photos of your own products, shop or work usually do better than generic stock images. Short videos of a few seconds, such as packing an order or finishing a haircut, are simple to shoot on a phone and feel more personal.

4. Keep links out of the first line

Posts that send people away from Facebook are often shown less. When you need to share a link, give the useful part in the post itself and put the link at the end, or in the comments.

5. Post at hours your audience is online

Open Page insights and look at when your followers are active. Try posting at those hours for two weeks, then compare. Your own numbers beat any general advice about the best time.

6. Be consistent rather than constant

Three good posts a week, every week, work better than ten posts in one week and then silence. Pick a rhythm you can keep. Writing posts in one sitting and scheduling them makes this much easier.

7. Invite people to follow and share

Put your Page name on your bills, packaging, shop board and WhatsApp status. Ask happy customers to tag you in their photos. A small number of engaged local followers is worth more than a large number who never see or care about your posts.

8. Share to relevant groups where it is allowed

Many local buying-and-selling and community groups welcome business posts, but each group has its own rules. Read them first, never spam the same text everywhere, and vary your wording. Groups that ban promotion will remove you and may block you.

9. Check what worked, then repeat it

Once a month, sort your posts by reach and reactions. Look for patterns in the topic, format and time of day, then make more of the winners and stop repeating the posts that fell flat.

Where scheduling helps

Most reach problems come from posting irregularly. Rido Poster lets you write a week of posts at once and schedule them to your Facebook Page, Instagram and LinkedIn through their official connections. If you share in Facebook groups too, the browser extension has an Auto-posting mode that makes up to 20 group posts a day, with pauses between them, and stops for 24 hours if Facebook shows a limit. Plans start at ₹49 a month.
